Field Trips

We are proud to offer multiple experiences for our girls to further enhance their experience in the Girls’ Circles program.

We are always on the lookout for opportunities to further connect our girls with the community. We want to provide them with educational enhancements as well as to engage them in cultural experiences that challenges them to think beyond mainstream media messages. We build our Field Trips into experiences that help our girls transform their dreams into their vision of their future.

During the 2015-2016 school year, 80 girls went to SUNYA to see the play Zora, a one-woman show about Zora Neal Hurston. They received copies of Their Eyes Were Watching God and ate lunch on campus among college students.
One hundred of our girls in circles participated in the One County One Book Program. They each received copies of Brown Girl Dreaming and visited Mont Pleasant Middle School for an author visit in which they were able to listen to Jacqueline Woodson speak, to ask questions, and get their books signed.
In addition, many 7th graders visited miSci and other girls visited Merck Forest Animal Sanctuary.
