We're all sad that in-school learning has ended for the school year due to Covid-19. We know that our community has many needs, including keeping everyone safe and healthy, ensuring that all of our families receive adequate food and pantry goods, maintaining as much academic learning as is feasible at this time, and coping with the stress and anxiety of this unprecedented time. This holiday season, The Open Door Bookstore is offering a unique fundraising opportunity for Working Group on Girls of Schenectady, Inc. (WGGS).  Shop2gether is a partnership that gives our volunteers, donors and friends a personal shopping experience. Circles of Support Fundraiser 2019

We're pleased to announce that Dr. Steady Moono and Mrs. Kelly Moono will be honorary chairs for our Circles of Support Celebration fundraiser.  We'll be gathering on Thursday, October 3, from 5:30-7:30 pm a the Mohawk Golf Club, and we'd love to have you join us! New Roles at WGGS

Two members of our community are taking on new roles within the WGGS Community. Tanya Hull is beginning her term as Co-President of the Board. Tanya started with WGGS serving as a muse at Paige Elementary School and Central Park Middle School before joining the WGGS, and she has served on SCSD's Board of Education and is a member of the Adopted Not for Profit Committee with the Capital Region Chamber's Women's Council as well as an Eastern Star. Spotlight on Girls: Circles of Support Speakers

  At our recent Circles of Support event, we were joined by two Schenectady High School students who have participated in our programs, Mylika Rozier (right) and Shamiah Walker (middle) from Central Park. Both girls expressed surprise at the care and support that they'd found, and they both particularly noted how impressed they were by how the adult volunteers modeled this caring and support for each other as well as the girls at events. Did you know that WGGS started out as a project of League of Women Voters of Schenectady County?
