Girls’ Day Out 2017

What a wonderful day! There aren't enough words to express our gratitude to all of our volunteers, facilitators, and other community members who have demonstrated such generosity, kindness, wisdom, compassion, and dedication to improving the lives of girls in Schenectady. Girls' Day Out would not happen without them. There was plenty of joy and laughter and learning at Girls' Day Out. Here are some images from the day. New Board Members Joining Us

We're pleased to report that three outstanding women have just joined our executive board. Suzanne DeWald holds a B.A. in English Education as well as a Masters of Public Administration. She recently retired after 23 years as the Development Officer for the Schenectady City School District. Prior to her work with the District, Suzanne held leadership positions in public and non-profit organizations. Since retirement she has begun providing grant consulting services. Presidents’ Note – The Circle, November 2017

Thanks to all who were able to join us in October for our 2nd Annual Circles of Support Fundraiser. It was wonderful to gather together, to celebrate our honorees, and to talk about all of our recent activities. We are especially grateful to Mont Pleasant 8th grader Marangely Rodriguez for her bravery in sharing her Girls' Circle experiences with us. Our connections with the community continue to grow. We are currently working with The Schenectady Foundation and Big Brothers & Big Sisters on a project called 'Mentor Link'. This is bringing together many nonprofit organizations that use mentors in efforts to support youth in Schenectady. One of ...

Looking Forward to Girls’ Day Out 2017!

We are very excited to announce that the 9th Annual Girl's Day Out Conference will be held on November 15, 2017!  WGGS has invited 150 seventh-grade girls to spend the day at the Glen Sanders Mansion where they'll attend inspiring workshops, make connections, feel supported and cared for, and of course enjoy great food! This year's keynote speaker is Dr. Margaret Barrow. After spending a traumatic childhood in foster care, Dr. Barrow earned her Doctorate in English Education from Teachers College of Columbia University. She lives in New York City, where she is Deputy Chair and Associate Professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College's ...
