Looking Forward to Girls’ Day Out 2017!

We are very excited to announce that the 9th Annual Girl’s Day Out Conference will be held on November 15, 2017!  WGGS has invited 150 seventh-grade girls to spend the day at the Glen Sanders Mansion where they’ll attend inspiring workshops, make connections, feel supported and cared for, and of course enjoy great food!

This year’s keynote speaker is Dr. Margaret Barrow. After spending a traumatic childhood in foster care, Dr. Barrow earned her Doctorate in English Education from Teachers College of Columbia University. She lives in New York City, where she is Deputy Chair and Associate Professor at Borough of Manhattan Community College’s English Department. In addition to teaching, Dr. Barrow writes, has raised two daughters, recently started her own business, MBarrow Design, and shares her love of healthful eating via Instagram.

The girls will be able to choose from various workshops focusing on relationships, stress, bullying, rising up in difficult times, visual art, drumming, dance, improv. . . just to name a few.  Each girl will leave with a bag filled with donated goodies and a GDO sweatshirt.
