This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to be a part of a powerful movement that supports the girls of Schenectady. Our organization provides social and emotional support to middle and high school girls, creating safe spaces where they can develop their voices and build meaningful connections.

WGGS was chosen as a finalist to pitch our new FRESH Program in the United Way Greater Capital Region's 5th Annual Perfect Pitch event held December 6, 2023 at Revolution Hall in Troy. WGGS was one of 4 organizations competing for $10,000. WGGS was the winner of the 2023 Perfect Pitch! Thank you United Way for choosing WGGS! We are beyond grateful for everyone's support!
NEW! FRESH Program
WGGS is excited to share with you FRESH (Food Resiliency Education Socialization and Health). We are partnering with Cornell Cooperative Extension and SICM to implement this program. The goals of FRESH are to educate, empower, mentor, and provide sustainable life skills to the girls in the Schenectady Community. FRESH is available to girls in elementary, middle and high school.

Caring Community Convening Event 12/14/23
WGGS is hosting a Caring Community Convening event on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 5 pm - 7 pm in the McChesney Room at the Schenectady Central Public Library. We are asking "What does a community look like that cares about girls?" and we want to hear your voices! All are welcome. Light food and beverages will be served. Click here for more information. Applications Open for 2021 Scholarship!
The Helga Schroeter Memorial Scholarship was established by the Working Group on Girls of Schenectady, Inc.in September 2019 to honor Helga, one of their founding mothers, and to keep alive her passion for socialjustice, diversity and inclusion, and nurturing the youth of our community. This scholarship is intended tofurther girls’ education or training after high school.
This year's application deadline is July 1, 2021. The winning applicant will be notified by mail in early August 2021.

Connecting to Our Girls While We’re Apart
We're all sad that in-school learning has ended for the school year due to Covid-19. We know that our community has many needs, including keeping everyone safe and healthy, ensuring that all of our families receive adequate food and pantry goods, maintaining as much academic learning as is feasible at this time, and coping with the stress and anxiety of this unprecedented time.
