Applications Open for 2021 Scholarship!
The Helga Schroeter Memorial Scholarship was established by the Working Group on Girls of Schenectady, Inc.in September 2019 to honor Helga, one of their founding mothers, and to keep alive her passion for socialjustice, diversity and inclusion, and nurturing the youth of our community. This scholarship is intended tofurther girls’ education or training after high school.
This year's application deadline is July 1, 2021. The winning applicant will be notified by mail in early August 2021.

Connecting to Our Girls While We’re Apart
We're all sad that in-school learning has ended for the school year due to Covid-19. We know that our community has many needs, including keeping everyone safe and healthy, ensuring that all of our families receive adequate food and pantry goods, maintaining as much academic learning as is feasible at this time, and coping with the stress and anxiety of this unprecedented time.

This holiday season, The Open Door Bookstore is offering a unique fundraising opportunity for Working Group on Girls of Schenectady, Inc. (WGGS). Shop2gether is a partnership that gives our volunteers, donors and friends a personal shopping experience. This also allows Open Door to give back to the community they love by returning 15% of all purchases to WGGS.

Circles of Support Fundraiser 2019
We're pleased to announce that Dr. Steady Moono and Mrs. Kelly Moono will be honorary chairs for our Circles of Support Celebration fundraiser.
We'll be gathering on Thursday, October 3, from 5:30-7:30 pm a the Mohawk Golf Club, and we'd love to have you join us! We'll have hors d'oeuvres, a wine & beer bar, and wonderful gift baskets to raffle.

New Roles at WGGS
Two members of our community are taking on new roles within the WGGS Community.
Tanya Hull is beginning her term as Co-President of the Board. Tanya started with WGGS serving as a muse at Paige Elementary School and Central Park Middle School before joining the WGGS, and she has served on SCSD's Board of Education and is a member of the Adopted Not for Profit Committee with the Capital Region Chamber's Women's Council as well as an Eastern Star. She works as a real estate agent for RE/MAX. We're so excited that she's agreed to serve as Co-President!
