Applications Open for 2021 Scholarship!
The Helga Schroeter Memorial Scholarship was established by the Working Group on Girls of Schenectady, Inc.in September 2019 to honor Helga, one of their founding mothers, and to keep alive her passion for socialjustice, diversity and inclusion, and nurturing the youth of our community. This scholarship is intended tofurther girls’ education or training after high school.
This year's application deadline is July 1, 2021. The winning applicant will be notified by mail in early August 2021.

Making Virtual Girls’ Circles Special
How do we foster community when we can't really be together? How do we motivate girls to spend more time in adult-led online togetherness when they already spend so much time logged in for academic? Muses and clinicians work hard to ensure that the girls in virtual circles feel cared for, and that goes beyond what they say when they're all talking together.

Congratulations to our first Helga Schroeter Scholarship Recipient, Myauta Ponzo!
You may remember Myauta, the Steinmetz Career & Leadership Academy student who spoke at our last Circles of Support about her experience with Girls' Circles. We're so excited to support her as she takes her next step in her educational journey! Myauta plans to attend SCCC this fall to pursue a degree in psychology and become a therapist.

Connecting to Our Girls While We’re Apart
We're all sad that in-school learning has ended for the school year due to Covid-19. We know that our community has many needs, including keeping everyone safe and healthy, ensuring that all of our families receive adequate food and pantry goods, maintaining as much academic learning as is feasible at this time, and coping with the stress and anxiety of this unprecedented time.
